The French Embassy in Senegal and the Gambia and the Alliance Française in Banjul support young Gambian artistic creation, the development of innovative and digital projects and the training of professional artists in the cultural sector.
In 2021, we reaffirm this commitment by launching a call for projects open to cultural associations and entrepreneurs.
Selection criteria
Applicants will have to meet one or more of the following criteria in theirs projects:
– Innovative;
– Promoting the skills development of young people and the professionalization of the cultural sector;
– Focused on contemporary creation;
– Related to human rights, gender, diversity, social inclusion and environmental issues;
– In partnership with French or EU structures;
NB: Projects must go beyond a simple event and must contribute to structuring local cultural ecosystems.
Projects must imperatively take into account the health measures in force, and if necessary, propose innovative formats, including digital.
Fields concerned
The field of activity includes all artistic disciplines (including gastronomy, fashion, design, architecture, video games…), science and the debate of ideas. Projects aiming at strengthening the cultural economy in The Gambia (cultural entrepreneurship, capacity building, professionalization) will be strongly encouraged.
The Alliance Francaise of Banjul
The Alliance Francaise of Banjul is a local non-profit organization. The Alliance aims to promote french language, to share french and francophone cultures, to encourage intercultural exchanges and to boost imagination and innovation. The Alliance is a place dedicated to learning and creativity, with events which can be hosted in its various premises:
- An outdoor theater of 500 seats
- A conference room of 80 seats
- The Hut : a dedicated incubation space and tech lab An exhibition gallery
- A recording studio

Early October: Launch of the call for projects
7 November 2021 at the latest: submission of applications to the following address: afculturalcommission@gmail.com and commissionculture@ifs.sn.
November 2021: Implementation of supports
Constitution of the files
The applications must be accompanied by the completed grant application form (attached form) as well as the various documents mentioned at the bottom of the said sheet:
- Grant application letter (dated, encrypted in euros and signed) addressed to Mrs Justine, GUSCHLBAUER, Director of the Alliance Française de Banjul and Mr Pascal MOULARD, Deputy cooperation and cultural affairs advisor
- Grant application form (to be downloaded)
- Statuts, receipt, NGO Registration number
- Detailed project, in PDF format
- Overall estimated budget balanced in expenditure and revenue
- Bank Identity Statement (RIB) in the name of the structure, issued by the bank
- Attestation of partnership of the structures associated with the project
NB: The grant requested should not exceed 50% of the total budget

A committee will select the projects meeting the criteria set out above as well as the missions and
